Other Areas of Exploration and Skills Explored
Near to the close of the module the lockdown was put into place which limited ways in which I could shoot for the module. I considered ways in which I could continue my practical research at home or near to my home. Ultimately it seemed rather pointless to shoehorn square shaped content into a circular masculine hole so to speak! With the exception of some interesting images I captured of abandoned things which may well feature in my WIP the majority of the shoots did not fit my research area. Given the impact of the Coronavirus I felt I should at least include evidence of these shoots to demonstrate some of the skills developed and the content produced. The images featured were really more attempts to capture primary sources that might spark some ideas. In the previous module I looked at exploring non places but in the end in his module it served as little more than a rather therapeutic and nostalgic interlude back into using slide film. I shot most of these with a Leica M6 rangefinder and 50mm F2 lens and then shot some on Digital Leica M262, both easy cameras to carry when out for a daily walk. I shot rolls of Fuji Provia F 100 which captures very close to real colours. I also shot some Kodak Elite Chrome which was expired and has a purple cast to it rather like Fuji Velvia. I shot various rolls of monochrome, mainly Ilford FP4 35mm. The images were used for an online lecturer I delivered to Digital Design Degree group, it sparked discussion and a few ideas so were useful in this sense.
